This BLOG was established as a site to express feelings of the heart and mind surrounding the June 19, 2005 hit and run death of 15 year old Kayla Peter. The registered owner of the Lexus that killed Kayla is Susanna Goihman owner/chef of Azafran Restaurant located at 617 S. Third Street.
On Thursday 8/18 NBC10 announced that "An arrest warrant is being prepared for Susanna Goihman in the hit and run death of Kayla Peter." How long should it take to write, have a judge sign, present to the DA to exicute and serve? I can't get a straight answer from those who should know...Phase 3 of "Justice For Kayla" is in place. Just say the word...
No matter what happens, we won't give up this fight for justice. As Mrs. P. said at the vigil on Friday, "shame on us" if we should forget. For Kayla's sake and for the sake of those who are still at risk from Ms. Goihman's irresponsibility, we will carry on.
Ok, all I want to know is are they raising the bird that they are getting the feather from to sign this stinking arrest warrant? I guess they're waiting for just the right plum to sign it with! It's taking too long and this warrant should have been issued on Friday. That was before they had the break in the Figeuroa case. I can't see how that would hold it up.
My husband just called me, 11:00 am and told me that they just announced on KYW they have the arrest warrant completed and she is turning herself in this afternoon according to her lawyer!! Did anyone else hear???
I just watched channel 6 and it showed Goihman walking up to the roundhouse to turn herself in w/her lawyer and another guy. It's ashame it took this long and this much effort from Donna the rest of the people involved to come to this point. Hopefully now she'll tell the truth and not lie through her teeth!
Again, Donna, another great day and accomplishment in the world of Kayla's supporters. It's almost like we can take another deep breathe that bring a little more sense of relief and rejoice! JUSTICE FOR KAYLA!!
I just saw images of Goihman surrendering to police. Am I seeing correctly--she's wearing a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt while surrendering to charges related to the death of a child? Perhaps this is reading too much meaning into her choice of attire; however, I can't help but think that it's one more sign she doesn't seem to respect the authorities or the gravity of this situation. It's not as if she didn't have the money or the advance notice to dress more appropriately. Just my opinion.
Outside police headquarters, defense attorney Brian McMonagle told reporters: ““She would never knowingly or intentionally injure a child leaving her behind.”
Doe that mean she was IMPAIRED when she did it? Or is he still maintaining the old she wasn't driving story?????
Being a Hallahan alumni, I find it disturbing that she would have the guts to wear a shirt with our mascott, what a piece of trash this woman is. May she rot in jail!

Goihman surrenders in hit-and-run death
By Thomas J. Gibbons Jr. and L. Stuart Ditzen INQUIRER STAFF WRITER
Susanna Goihman, a Philadelphia restaurant owner whose white 2002 Lexus struck and killed 15-year-old Kayla Peter in a hit-and-run accident on June 19, turned herself in to police today after a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Goihman, 42, of East Falls, had refused to speak with police for two months after her car was identified as the vehicle that struck Peter in the 4800 block of Ridge Avenue. Peter had stepped off a bus on Ridge Avenue and was crossing the street to her home in the same block when she was hit by Goihman's Lexus which left the scene.
Goihman, a native of Venezuela, had been the target of protests by family and friends of Peter, who would have been a junior at John W. Hallahan Catholic High School for Girls this fall, at her home on Henry Avenue and at Azafran, a restaurant she owned in Queen Village. Goihman recently sold the restaurant.
Goihmann, grim faced and flanked by attornies Brian J. McMonagle and Louis A. Bove, passed through a crowd of reporters without comment and surrendered to a Homicide unit detective at 11:08 a.m.at Police Headquarters.
McMonagle said at an impromptu press conference outside the building minutes later that he was "advised" this morning that a warrant had been obtained for her. "I brought her to Philadelphia within hours of knowing that her arrest was imminent and we wanted to surrender today to authorities to let the system begin its work," said McMonagle. "It's a very difficult day for her and her family and despite this her thoughts and her prayers are obviously with this child's family."
McMonagle said Goihman would be charged with leaving the scene of an accident in which there was a fatality. He said he had turned over Goihman's passport to authorities "so there can be no confusion about her thoughts and intentions."

Donna, this may sound like a silly question but have you talked to Abraham's assistant?
Could this have been delayed because of the developments in the Figeuroa case?
Who have you tried to get answers from?

McMonagle told Investigative Reporter Walt Hunter that he expects his client to receive a high bail. Her arraignment will take place within 24 hours.
are they seriously considering bail?? she is so wealthy that it makes me so nervous she may only be on a field trip today...
